5. Commercialize
Manifold’s goal is for each of its products and technologies to successfully reach its intended customers, where its ultimate value can be determined and achieved. This happens after Manifold has transferred responsibility via a license or sale to an established company, or by spinning out an entirely new company. In the case of the licensing path, the established company will already have manufacturing, channels of distribution and a brand to reach its customer base. In the case of the new company path, the new entity needs to be much more creative and efficient in figuring out how to bring its product to market. In most cases, this will involve a contract manufacturer and initial distribution direct to customers or through select channels. The new company may also choose to license the technology to an established manufacturer with limited exclusivity. Once the product has been validated in the market, the new company will make decisions about the scale vs. dilution tradeoffs in taking in growth capital.
