 | | | | | | | | | Approach Manifold is building a portfolio of products and companies with a focus on consumer products. Although each portfolio product will require a different approach, Manifold follows 4 basic steps in preparing a product for commercialization: | | | | | | | | | | | | | 1. Source - find or create new product/technology ideas
2. Select - decide whether they are worth pursuing
3. Develop - design, develop and engineer the product, secure patents, complete market research
4. Transfer - create a new company or license/sell the product to an established company who will commercialize the product
5. Commercialize – support the new company, licensee or acquirer as they bring the product to market | | | | | | | | | | | Manifold takes full responsibility for all expenses and manpower required to develop and transfer the product or technology (steps 1 through 4). If Manifold creates a new company to commercialize the product, Manifold arranges financing, recruits a management team and takes an equity position. If Manifold transfers the product through a license, it will receive royalties through a negotiated agreement. In either situation, if the product came from an external invention source, they will participate in similar ways to Manifold, the terms of which will be negotiated on a case by case basis.
